Vehicle industry grew with 32% in 2013

The automotive and vehicle industry produced goods in 18 billion EUR value which represents 18 percent of the overall processing industry of Hungary. There are 726 companies are operating in this field and employing more than 120 thousand workers.

According to the Minister- who presented at the conference organized by Deloitte in Kecskemét- with the 2013 result Hungary became one of the vehicle indutry centrds in Europe, because  it contrbutes to the GDP with percent within EU average. The Minster highlighted  the competetive infrastructural conditions of multinational vehicle manufacturing companies and their preparedness to high quality research and development activities.

He called attention to the fact that while over the previous decade the ratio of R&D spending relative to GDP was around 1 percent, it has been rising steadily since 2010 and the Government has set the medium-term strategic goal to bring this figure to 1.8 percent by 2020. In line with this objective, Hungary will spend EUR 2.1 billion on R&D in the current EU fiscal period, which amount is twice as much as the cohesion fund received in the previous period.

The Minister exepcted further growth for the 2014 year's result, because the producing capacities installed by the previously executed investments have started manufacturing with full capacity just in this period of the year.
